The Brief
VOOM is an initiative by Virgin Media Business that gives entrepreneurs the opportunity to pitch their business ideas to Richard Branson for the chance of winning a slice of a prize fund worth more than £1 million.
Collaboration space was a must for the floor to allow the different companies taking part to have their own areas to work and prepare, as well as relax during down time. In front of the kitchen is a bean bag seating area for casual working or meetings, along with several sofas nearby. More seating is located toward the back of the room along with a whiteboard to enable brainstorming and group working. In the second, larger area of the office there are 5 bays of desks to allow more formal, traditional working. The white desk tops contrast the black table frames and conference chairs and add a light touch to the room while complimenting the light wood effect flooring.
What we did
Much like the floor below that we refurbished for Squawka, alongside the breakout area were four meeting pods. These pods were coloured to match the branding of VOOM, with a gradient sweeping from the distinctive ‘Virgin Red’ to a bright pink. These pods provide separate spaces for employees to have impromptu meetings or make a private phone call.
A unique feature of the VOOM office space is their creative and eye-catching meeting room. The glass features iridescent circular ‘dot’ manifestation with the Virgin Business logo that appear to change colour as your viewing angle changes. As you walk past it you get an ever changing spectrum of colour which really adds a bespoke and distinctive highlight to the room.
You may have noticed a special guest in the VOOM office – Robby the Robot! Robby is VOOM’s mascot who greets all those who visit the floor, and is currently gathering the signatures of the guest speakers and visitors who come to the offices. We hope that those at VOOM (and Robby!) enjoy their great new working environment and wish them luck in their business ideas and pitching!
