The Brief
Techspace partner with ambitious teams who want more ownership of their workspace, helping them bridge the gap from startup to scale-up. They currently have 5 offices situated around the Shoreditch and Whitechapel areas of London. Therefore, it makes sense why Techspace would choose Kreuzberg as their first international office – It’s known as the Shoreditch of Berlin! The place oozes of creativity and with a diversity of companies, the location of Techspace Lobeckstrasse is ideal.
Originally the building was a large open industrial space, which was worlds away from a typical office structure. Techspace was relying on our expertise to create a vibrant and inviting office for their first European venture. The building would need to include a variety of different zones; a reception enterprise space, private offices, meeting rooms, phone booths, kitchens, breakout areas and collaboration spaces.
What we did
We supported Techspace from the initial stages of the project, translating Techspace’s specification and workspace model for the German construction industry. We were involved in many aspects of the project; contractor negotiations, project management, space planning, interior and technical design, audio visual, lighting and furniture. One of the challenges was having to co-ordinate and manage the fit-out in another language, however our project team did a fantastic job in translating all of the details.
We used black linear lighting to cleverly accentuate the high ceilings and carpet in a concrete design. Our design team wanted to incorporate wood within the kitchen areas which they did by including wooden shelving, worktops and stools. We designed grey and blue patterned tiling for the walls and floor which worked in harmony with the colour of the wood.
The project was particularly interesting for Office Profile as it was our first one overseas. We feel the office looks outstanding and we’re sure Techspace Lobeckstrasse will be very successful!
